Description
The Apex Direct Drop-In Threaded Barrel for the FN Reflex and FN Reflex XL is built for shooters who want to add a suppressor or compensator without sending the slide to a gunsmith. This is a true drop-in fit — no hand-fitting, no filing, no extra labor. You install it yourself and get back to the range.
Each barrel starts as a heat-treated stainless steel blank, then is hammer-forged for consistent density and long service life. The steel is finished with a black Melonite treatment that resists corrosion and wear far better than standard bluing. This is the same barrel you would expect from a custom shop, but at a price that makes sense for a practical upgrade.
The muzzle is threaded ½-28, the industry standard for 9mm suppressors and compensators. When installed in the factory slide, the threaded section extends approximately .680” past the muzzle — enough clearance for most suppressor mounts and comps without being overly long. For reference, the Apex Reflex barrel has an overall length of approximately 3.98”, and the Reflex XL barrel is approximately 4.48”. Both are chambered in 9mm with a 1:10 twist rate, which stabilizes standard 115-grain through 147-grain loads reliably.
Real benefits for California shooters:
- Legal to own in California — threaded barrels for pistols are not prohibited by the state roster (the roster applies to the firearm itself, not accessories). You can purchase this barrel for your off-roster FN Reflex as long as the pistol is legally owned and transferred per California law. Note: this barrel is not for sale to customers in CA, CT, DE, DC, HI, IL, NJ, NY, or WA for shipping purposes — but if you are a California resident with a legal FN Reflex, you may be able to purchase through a local FFL or make arrangements with our team. Contact us for details.
- No permanent modifications — the barrel installs in minutes with basic tools. Swap it back to the factory barrel if you ever need to remove the threaded option. No permanent alteration to the firearm.
- Reduced felt recoil with a compensator — a good comp on a threaded barrel makes follow-up shots faster and more controlled, especially on the compact Reflex frame. This is a practical upgrade for range training or competition.
- Suppressor-ready — if you ever move to a state where suppressors
