About the Springfield XDS Mod.2 9mm

Overview

The Springfield XDS Mod.2 9mm semi-automatic pistol with gray frame and fiber optic front sight delivers reliable concealed carry performance in a slim, single-stack platform. Building on the proven XD-S series, the Mod.2 generation refines ergonomics with a textured grip surface and an enhanced trigger guard undercut for a higher, more comfortable hand position. The gray frame offers a distinct visual alternative to standard black, while the fiber optic front sight ensures rapid target acquisition in varying light conditions. This pistol chambers the 9mm round and operates with a striker-fired trigger system, maintaining the clean break and short reset that Springfield Armory users expect.

Features and Specs

This model from Springfield Armory combines functional upgrades with proven mechanical reliability. The slide is machined from forged carbon steel with a Melonite finish for corrosion resistance, while the polymer gray frame includes a replaceable grip insert to adjust fit. The fiber optic front sight uses a bright polymer rod to gather ambient light, contrasting against the rear tactical rack sight for a clear sight picture. The barrel length measures 3.3 inches, keeping the overall profile compact without sacrificing ballistic performance. Additional specifications include a 7-round flush-fit magazine and an 8-round extended magazine, both included with the pistol. The trigger pull weight is factory set at 5.5 to 6.0 pounds, and the pistol ships with a paddle-style holster and a cable lock.
