CZ DUTY 4.0 F

CZ just released a new striker-fired 9mm, and Northern California buyers from Sacramento to the Gold Country want to know what it is. Meet the DUTY 4.0. The serialized part is an internal chassis, so the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame is modular. CZ builds it in two sizes: the C compact at 15+1 and the F full-size at 17+1, each also offered as an MS model with a manual thumb safety on top of the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety. The slide takes a red dot by direct mount; the fixed sights stay on.

Roseville commuters, Stockton homeowners and folks up in Placerville, Jackson and Angels Camp mostly want the same thing from a 9mm this size: home defense first, range time second, and carry where the county allows. The 4-inch barrel and 7.4-inch overall length keep the F manageable; the C is the easier one to tuck away.

The F is the full-frame frame: 143 mm (5.6 in) tall, 780 g (27.7 oz) unloaded, 17+1 rounds of 9mm on board and 19+1 with the extended base plate. The longer grip fills a big hand and settles the gun between shots.

This version has no external safety lever. It relies on three internal safeties, firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety, and the trigger is the same as on the MS model. Shooters who prefer a lever should pick the MS.

What is new under the slide is the serialized modular chassis. The serial number lives on the internal chassis, not on the polymer grip, so the grip module is a part you can change while the gun stays the same gun. Around it CZ put a reworked SFDA striker trigger, rated at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) with a 4 mm (0.16 in) reset and 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) of travel, and a slide cut for direct-mount optics. CZ's own photos show it wearing Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dot sights.

Best fit: home defense, duty use, competition and long range sessions where the extra grip and two more rounds matter. Shooters coming from a CZ 75 will recognize the grip angle; shooters coming from any other striker gun will notice the trigger first.

California does not require a purchase permit, but you do need a Firearm Safety Certificate, a DROS entry and ten full days before your dealer can release the pistol. We ship the DUTY 4.0 to the California dealer you choose at checkout; that dealer handles the paperwork and confirms what can be released to you. Ammunition goes to a licensed ammunition vendor, while optics and gear come to your door. Price and stock are checked live before you pay.

Questions buyers ask: How long is the wait to pick up a DUTY 4.0 in California? Ten full days from the DROS entry, and you need a current Firearm Safety Certificate. Your dealer walks you through the rest at pickup. Can I put a Holosun on the DUTY 4.0 C? Yes. The slide is optics ready with direct mounting, and CZ's own photos show Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield red dots fitted. How many rounds does the CZ DUTY 4.0 F hold? 17+1 with the standard magazine and 19+1 with the extended base plate.
